Ten dollars per print should make your friend happy and you should feel OK about saying that is your cost (assuming your time is free in this equation) I can't tell you that but I'll suggest you look at Mpix and find out what your friend would pay by ordering from Mpix.
Is it your print from one of your files? Is it theirs? How much time will it take? (or the damage you or your dog might do before the print gets delivered!) Invariably there will be the occasional defective print due to an ink drop or smug. I don't know about you but I print test strips and even then I'm not always 100% satisfied with a first print. It is hard to predict and calculate wear and tear on a machine as well as the amount of waste for any job. I have friends who are close and will get a subsidized at cost rate and if it costs me so what. Having done this type of printing "at cost" and working on several projects to help out friends I'll tell you that the tendency is for you the printer to subsidize the "at cost" prints. If your math and mine are correct, at $59.95 a cart for 80ml of OEM ink (2 years ago it was $46 per cart, go figger!), then it would cost you $5.44 just for ink whatever print you calculated (17x22 Inch?) plus the paper cost.
